Contour Plus Blood Glucose Test Strips are disposable, biosensor-based strips developed by Ascensia Diabetes Care to measure glucose levels in whole blood. Commonly packed in boxes of 25 or 50 strips, they are engineered for home and professional diabetes monitoring.
Key Features & Benefits
-
Second-Chance® Sampling: Allows you to apply more blood to the same strip within 30 to 60 seconds if your first sample was insufficient, reducing strip wastage.
-
No Coding Automation: The meter auto-calibrates immediately upon strip insertion, eliminating user error from manual coding.
-
Tiny Sample Size: Requires a small blood volume of just 0.6 µL, allowing for shallower, more comfortable lancing.
-
High Accuracy: Employs multi-pulse technology that evaluates the sample multiple times to exceed ISO 15197:2013 accuracy standards.
-
Chemical Interference Resistance: Delivers accurate readings unaffected by common substances like paracetamol, ibuprofen, or varying hematocrit levels (0% to 70%).
System Compatibility
Contour Plus strips work exclusively with the Contour Plus ecosystem of meters. They are not interchangeable with Contour Next or other brands. Compatible models include:
- Contour Plus
- Contour Plus One
- Contour Plus Elite
- Contour Plus Blue
How to Use Properly
-
Wash and dry your hands thoroughly before testing.
-
Insert the grey square end of the strip firmly into the meter port; the device will beep and turn on.
-
Lance the side of your fingertip to form a small, rounded droplet of blood.
-
Touch the tip of the strip to the blood drop until the meter beeps and begins a 5-second countdown.
-
Read the result displayed on the screen, then pull the strip straight out to safely discard it.
Storage & Handling Requirements
- Always store strips in their original bottle, closing the cap tightly immediately after extracting a strip to protect them from ambient humidity.
- Keep storage temperatures strictly between 2°C and 30°C.
-
Never reuse a test strip; they are strictly designed for single-use.
- Check the expiration date printed on the carton or bottle; discarded expired strips as they can cause inaccurate readings.
