It is also used with other medications to treat and prevent the return of stomach ulcers caused by a certain type of bacteria (\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eH. pylori\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e) in adults. Esomeprazole is also used to treat conditions in which the stomach produces too much acid such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome in adults.\u003c\/span\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cspan data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eNonprescription (over-the-counter) esomeprazole is used to treat frequent heartburn (heartburn that occurs at least 2 or more days a week) in adults. Esomeprazole is in a class of medications called proton pump inhibitors.
