Description

Germoloids Suppositories provide fast, numbing relief from internal piles by targeting pain and itching directly.

What Germoloids Suppositories Are Used For

Germoloids Suppositories are designed for the symptomatic relief of internal haemorrhoids (piles) and anal itching (pruritus ani). They deliver a targeted 4-in-1 action directly inside the rectum to manage localized discomfort.

Active Ingredients & How They Work

The suppositories combine two primary clinical ingredients with a lubricating base to relieve symptoms:

  • Lidocaine Hydrochloride (13.2 mg): A fast-acting local anaesthetic that numbs the area, providing rapid relief from severe pain, soreness, and irritation.
  • Zinc Oxide (283.5 mg): An astringent and mild antiseptic that shrinks the swollen hemorrhoidal tissue, soothes the skin, and helps protect the area against localized infection.
  • Hard Fat Base: Functions as an emollient and lubricant, easing the passage of stools to prevent further straining of sensitive tissue.

Dosage and Administration Instructions

This medication is exclusively for rectal administration and must not be swallowed.

  • Age Limit: For adults and children aged 12 years and older. Children under 12 should only use this product if specifically directed by a doctor.
  • Standard Schedule: Insert one suppository at night and one in the morning. It is highly recommended to administer the dose after a bowel movement has taken place.
  • Daytime Flares: If required, you may use a suppository at any time during the day, provided you leave a minimum of 3 to 4 hours between applications.
  • Maximum Limit: Do not exceed 4 suppositories in any 24-hour period.

Step-by-Step Insertion Guide

  1. Preparation: Empty your bowels if you feel the urge. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
  2. Check Consistency: If the suppository feels soft within its wrapper, place it in the refrigerator or under cold tap water for a few minutes to harden it before opening.
  3. Positioning: Tear open the PVC blister pack to remove one suppository. Lie on your side with your bottom leg straight and your top leg bent up toward your chest.
  4. Insertion: Hold the suppository and gently push it into your anus, round/pointed end first. Gently push it in far enough so that it does not slip back out.
  5. Clean up: Lower your legs, remain still for a few minutes to allow the suppository to begin melting, and wash your hands immediately.

Warnings and Safety Precautions

  • Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: While lidocaine and zinc oxide have a long safety track record, there is a lack of definitive clinical trial data regarding pregnancy. You should consult your doctor or pharmacist before using Germoloids while pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Contraindications: Do not use if you have a known allergy or hypersensitivity to lidocaine, amide-type local anaesthetics, zinc oxide, or any of the inactive ingredients (such as methyl salicylate).
  • When to See a Doctor: Seek professional medical advice if you experience excessive or continuous rectal bleeding, if your symptoms are exceptionally severe, or if your condition does not improve after 7 days of continuous use.
