Description

Medisign Blood Glucose Test Strips are disposable, self-coding strips used with Medisign blood glucose monitors (such as the MM1100 or MM1200 meters) to measure blood sugar levels. They are a vital tool for diabetic individuals and healthcare professionals to monitor and manage diabetes effectively.

Key Features & Specifications

  • Self-Coding Calibration: These strips feature true no-coding technology, meaning you do not have to manually input a code when opening a new box. This eliminates manual user errors and ensures consistent clinical accuracy.
  • Micro-Sample Size: They require a very small blood droplet of only 0.5 μL. This permits much shallower, less painful skin pricks.
  • Rapid Results: The meter processes the sample and displays the reading in just 5 seconds.
  • Alternative Site Testing: Depending on your specific Medisign system (like the MS-2 strips), blood can be sampled from the fingertip, palm, or forearm during steady-state glucose conditions.

How to Use Medisign Strips

  1. Prepare Your Hands: Always wash your hands thoroughly with warm water and soap, then dry them completely. Leftover oils, dirt, or moisture can distort the accuracy of your test.
  2. Insert the Strip: Take a single strip from the vial and immediately recap the vial tightly to protect the remaining strips from air and moisture. Insert the strip into the meter's test port with the three black lines facing upward. This action automatically powers on the digital meter.
  3. Lance the Finger: Use your lancing device to prick the side of your fingertip, as this area has fewer nerve endings and is less painful than the fleshy pad. Gently massage the base of the finger to form a clean droplet of blood.
  4. Apply Blood: Touch the edge of the test strip directly to the blood droplet. The strip will automatically draw up the required blood sample.
  5. Read and Record: Wait for the 5-second countdown to finish to see your blood glucose concentration. Log your numbers if your meter does not automatically sync via Bluetooth.
  6. Safe Disposal: Safely eject the used strip into the trash and place your used lancet into a dedicated sharps disposal container.

Storage & Crucial Limitations

  • Vial Care: Store the test strips in their original vial in a cool, dry place between 4°C and 30°C. Do not freeze them.
  • Expiration Protocol: Check the expiration date on the box. Once opened, the vial's contents must generally be used or discarded within 3 months.
  • Medical Limitations: These strips are designed for capillary whole blood monitoring (In Vitro Diagnostic use) and are not suitable for arterial blood, venous blood, neonatal testing, or testing critically ill patients. Falsely low readings can occur if the user is actively undergoing oxygen therapy. Avoid alternative site testing (palm/forearm) if you suspect hypoglycemia or if your blood sugar is fluctuating rapidly.
